Good to know

What to know before you call

Most roofs we see fall into one of two camps. Some have a problem in one spot, like a lifted shingle, a cracked pipe boot or a flashing gap at a chimney. Those usually make sense to repair. Others are worn across the whole surface, with granule loss, curling, or leaks that keep coming back. Those usually make sense to replace. The inspection is how we tell the difference, and we show you what we found either way.

Coastal Virginia is hard on roofs. Wind-driven rain off the bay and rivers finds weak flashing, summer heat ages shingles, and tall pines drop debris that holds moisture in valleys and gutters. We build replacements and repairs with those conditions in mind.

Straight answers

Questions homeowners ask

Should I repair or replace my roof?

It depends on how widespread the damage is and how old the roof is. Damage in one area on a roof with plenty of life left is often repairable. Wear across the whole roof, or repeated leaks, usually points to replacement. We inspect first and walk you through both options when both are reasonable.

What roofing materials do you install?

Most of our work is architectural asphalt shingle roofing. We also handle metal roofing and low-slope sections. Ask about slate, cedar shake, TPO, EPDM or PVC when you book, and we will tell you plainly whether it fits your project.

Are estimates really free?

Yes. Inspections and estimates are free and there is no obligation to hire us.
